WOOHOO!!! Getting dirty

Today after a very late start, to much coffee, and a morning of catching up on some reading, I finally got my butt out and got my half of my seeds planted. It was so awesome, I got to use my new (well new to me) planting table, and the new seed box I made. The seed box I made from using a plastic tank made in our shop, and an old window I bought at a salvage building supply. I added hinges to keep it secure, and weather stripping under the window keep the heat in, and boom I'm off and running, it held a temp of almost 100 degrees today and that was after only being in the sun from about 3pm on. (I added my new Gnome to keep a watchful eye on the seeds)I starting using a smaller plastic tank that I cut in half to work the dirt and seeds in, that worked pretty well until I needed to use it plant in. :) hee hee will have to get a few more of those from work. :)
Sir Artemis was a large help as usual as I was getting ready to start, just laying there, in the way, begging me trip on him with my hands full, thanks kitty. This is my most excellent new potting and gardening table that I love!!! It has so much space, and cool places for me to put all my gardening things, I love it!! Those seeds in the middle of the shot, on the white paper towel, those are officially the Team Inertia seeds, they are planted and hopefully will come up just fine for serious Punkin Chunkin next season!! GO TEAM INERTIA!!

Yet another shot of all my stuff, I love having my hands in the dirt, I still have many more to plant, but the sun was going down and I need to wait for a warmer day to get the rest of them into the box. Its gonna be so great!
Finally, here is a shot of the seeds in the box this afternoon, the temp was maintaining at 80 degress around 6pm, hopefully it keeps them warm enough tonight, tomorrow it will get nice and toasty in there !!!! WOOOOOOHOOOO, yeah spring! Yesterday freezing cold, today seeds are started and the sun was out bright as ever.

Happy Spring!

Mother nature seems to keep hitting us with weekend storms, when I need to get things done in the yard. She must know I have tons to do in the house as well, ;). At least we didn't get the 20 inches of snow that was being forecast. There's still a nice blanket of snow out there, but most of it melted quickly since we've had such warm weather. Either way, there's enough on the ground for me to find indoor projects this weekend. At least I can get my seeds started !!!! HOORRAY SPRING! We get it Mother Nature, your bad ass, much respect! Spring snow storms are my fav!
With the snow in the yard, I am driven instead to get things done inside. Managed to work through a huge pile of magazines that have been sitting there just taunting me to go through them for months, :). I'm filled with the spring cleaning bug, so naturally I started moving things all around to clean, and decided it was time to change things around. I need to paint the living room so badly, but it will be another week or so before I can, so to break up the ugly white wall I hung a quilt I made a few years back to add some color and life to the place. I love it hanging on the wall, it looks like the seams are not straight in the photo because of the drag, the way its hanging, but they really are. I love this quilt, having it hang here now is giving me inspiration for colors to look for. Also notice the light coming through the new door's window shining on the floor, I love that!

This is the new front door we installed last weekend it. I love it, can't believe how much it changed the look of the house. I love waking up in the morning and seeing the sun shine through the beveled glass in the door. Its beautiful and makes me really happy. :)

So, I'm off to finish the cleaning, organizing, and get my seeds started this weekend! WOOHOO! I am so excited to get my garden started! Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy the change of season, much like life, they helping us to renew ourselves. Take a lesson from Mother Nature, cast off the things around you that have served their purpose, make room for the wonderful new things that will be blooming in your life. Peace and love

Sun Shiny Day

It was finally warm enough to get outside and start doing a few things. Got a dresser painted I've had in the garage for awhile waiting for it to warm up. Also, the cat was finally able to come out and explore more of the yard since there is no longer a big ass dog living in the yard. :) as you can see from the photos the cat really likes the yard, it was fun to have him following me around and climbing the tress and things. cool stuff.
Well, what do you do with a dog run when you no longer have a dog....rip it down and make us of as a garden :). Here are the beginning projects for the new backyard farm design. I am forgoing grass, to create a mini growing farm in the backyard. I am going to use the existing fence to make raised beds, and create hanging climbing things for plants that need to vine, its the first step in a huge project, but taking down parts of the fence was therapeutic and symbolic of many changes I find myself going through in life right now. Heres a couple of before and after shots of the fence coming down.

There is still much trash and debris to remove from the yard as the transformation begins. Also,y you can see the dresser I am painting white to put in the craft room to hold fabric, its going to be so cool!
picked up this new wind chime for the garden as well :) love it, it sounds great!
The perfect end to and almost perfect day working in my yard. You can still see all the things in the yard that need picked up, some snow, and of course the fence post obstacle course Jordyn laid out last fall before the snow covered it for the winter. :) still super muddy, but it feels wonderful to get out there and start making plans, and seeing how things are going to be laid out. Very exciting for garden geeks like myself :).
